Sensenbrenner Garners Praise for No Inside Trading

In his book Throw Them All Out Peter Schweizer argues that members of Congress often take advantage of inside information in their stock trading.

But, he praises Jim Sensenbrenner  who did NOT trade any health related stocks during the 2009 health care debate, unlike many of his colleagues.

Fighting to stop pollution in Lake Michigan

Broydrick & Associates is assisting in the fight to stop a ferry boat from polluting Lake Michigan in perpetuity with coal ash.

An amendment to the Coast Coast Reauthorization Bill would allow the boat to dump 3-5 tones of coal ash in the Lake on each trip.

Stay tuned for the results.

Wisconsin Recalls

I have no idea how much will be spent on the recalls in Wisconsin.
I do know that many knowledgeable people in Wisconsin could have predicted the outcome from the outset. Alberta Darling was always safe as was Luther Olson. Dan Kapanke was always in trouble and Randy Hopper was the wrong candidate.
This was an exercise good for media outlets, campaign consultants, and fundraisers. But only rubbed even more raw an already damaged political culture. It is all a shame

Broydrick Sells Wisconsin Lobbying Business

Employee Group to re-launch as Hubbard Wilson & Zelenkova, LLC

September 27, 2010

Madison, WI . . . Greg Hubbard, AJ Wilson and Ramie Zelenkova have purchased the Wisconsin

lobbying business of Broydrick & Associates, Inc. from firm founders Bill and Cindi Broydrick it

was announced today. Hubbard, Wilson and Zelenkova were Madison-based employees of the

firm, and will serve the firm’s clients under the new name of Hubbard Wilson & Zelenkova, LLC.

Broydrick & Associates, Inc. was founded in 1981 by Bill and Cindi Broydrick and has been

recognized as a leader among lobbying firms in Wisconsin since its inception. “Broydrick &

Associates always found the most cost efficient and effective solution to what seemed like at first

intractable problems,” said David Boerke of The Boerke Company, Inc.

“We’ve been in business since 1981,” said Bill Broydrick. “Cindi and I realized several years ago

that we needed a succession plan and we’re so glad we have been able to work with Greg, AJ and

Ramie to make this happen.”

The Broydricks said it was important to them to sell their Wisconsin lobbying business to people

who share their same tenacity and commitment to service to their clients.

“We’ve had the opportunity to work side-by side with Greg, AJ and Ramie, so we know their work

ethic and their abilities. Cindi and I know that our Wisconsin clients will continue to be well-served

by the team at HWZ,” Broydrick noted.

“We’ve worked with Broydrick & Associates for over 14 years and have been very pleased with

their work,” said Joel Haubrich, We Energies Manager of Government Affairs. “The transition has

been smooth and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Hubbard Wilson &

Zelenkova, LLC.”

In addition to We Energies, Hubbard Wilson & Zelenkova, LLC will continue to represent more

than 50 clients, including Plumbers Local 75, Independent Care Health Plan, JPMorgan Chase,

YWCA of Greater Milwaukee, Northwestern Mutual, Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin, and the

Association of State Prosecutors.

“We are excited about the new opportunity and will continue the tradition of hard work and success

for our clients at HWZ,” said Zelenkova.

Also joining HWZ as employees will be long-term Broydrick employees Tim Elverman and Lynn

Morgan, who will work out of the new firm’s Milwaukee office.

The Broydricks will continue to own and operate their federal government relations practice in

Washington D.C., which has grown steadily over the past several years.

Today’s Update

Everyone at UI Health and Texas Medicaid are pulling together. They are trying  to complete the application while our little baby girl is clinging to life at the NICU at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

Baby Fights for Life

There is a little two-month-old baby girl clinging to life at the Neo-natal unit at Scott and White Hospital in Temple Texas. She needs a multi-visceral transplant, which is offered at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

However, the process is stalled because of Texas Medicaid. The state requires the filing of 56 pages of an application including the requirement that the Board of Directors of the parent hospital, UI Health pass a resolution authorizing the child’s treatment.

Here’s the rub — the Board doesn’t meet until Feb. 24 (by then the little baby may expire). Time is not on her side.

We are working diligently on a solution. Stay tuned!

Miracle Cure Comes from an Earmark

Recently the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote a three-part series entitled One In A Billion about the miraculous cure found for a young boy through the use of genetic sequencing at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

What the Journal didn’t discuss is how Children’s obtained some of the equipment that directly enabled the doctors to learn the genetic cause of the child’s disease.

Oh my God — it was an earmark!

Yes, an earmark: that so-called “scourge” of good government. The earmarking process can be misused (in which case the culprit can be thrown out of office).
