“The Republicans worked hard but were less clear-eyed in their survey of the field.”
Peggy Noonan
Wall Street Journal Nov. 10, 2012
Ms. Noonan is correct. The Republicans develop policies designed to appeal to their fundraising base not to the average voter. The goal is to get a majority–not to make your donors feel good.
It is amazing that so many adherent Republicans find the results so hard to accept.
When you appeal to 1%, 99% are not impressed.
When you demonize illegal aliens Hispanics they don’t like it.
When you appeal to the country club crowd, don’t expect the kitchen help or the Moms and Dads of the caddies and waitresses to help.
