Do you need a lobbyist?
Whether to hire a lobbyist or not?
This question always presents a difficult decision because one doesn’t know the outcome.
Wall Street has developed an index fund that attempts to resolve the dilemma (https://www.barrons.com/artic les/lobbying-index-beats-the-m arket-1524863200).
“About 10-years-ago, Srategas (https://www.strategasrp.com/O urFirm) devised a ‘lobbying index’ of companies that get the most bang for their lobbying buck, including interaction with regulations. The index, it says, has outperformed the Standard and Poor’s 500 for nearly a decade by an average of almost five percentage points annually. The lobbying index returned an average 14.4% annually from its 2009 launch through April 13th, versus 9.5% for the S&P 500.”
In other words, good lobbying is also good for your bottom line.
Holding back and not interacting with regulators and legislators is a mistake by anyone affected by government…and, like it or not, we’re all affected by government.
At the end of the day, employing a good lobbyist is an excellent idea and a sound investment. It’s doing nothing that’s foolish.
